A bracket changes, a regime disappears, a treaty is renegotiated. Where Next was built around this reality: cadence and traceability beat the number of covered countries. Here's our process.

Depending on the nature of the change, the delay differs. We'd rather be honest about cadence than pretend an instant update that nobody actually keeps.

Every country profile is reopened every 3 months to scrutinise dated figures: rents, income tax rates, contributions, visa fees, allowances. Changes are recorded with date and source.
Scores for already published countries are recomputed for the annual August 1 edition after the July 20 data freeze. On the first day of every other month, an edition may add validated countries. A published edition remains fixed.
Six steps between a piece of data being released and its appearance on a Where Next profile. The double-check cost is owned: it avoids public errors.
From primary sources (tax administrations, ministries, international indices). List on /sources.
At least two independent sources when possible (PwC Tax Summaries + local administration for example).
Translation and structuring in the consistent Where Next format, for cross-country comparison.
Second contributor on sensitive figures. A single pair of eyes was never enough.
With a timestamp. The last verification date is visible on the profile.
Automatic email to affected subscribers on substantial changes.
These nine families feed the public scores. We use the latest edition available at the July 20 freeze, then publish the annual recomputation on August 1.
